About This Event

In recognition of Earth Day and Kansas Archaeology Month, please join us at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center for an archaeological dig activity! Carlton Shield Chief Gover, Ph.D., Curator of Archaeology at KU, will lead children on an archaeological excavation in our Dino Dig exhibit from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Children will search for 3D replicas of human artifacts, exploring how archaeology teaches history, cultural heritage, and the significance of what humans leave behind for future discovery.

Regular admission applies, which is $11 for children and adults, $10 for seniors, and free for infants under 12 months and Discovery Center members. Museums for All admission for families receiving WIC or EBT is $3 for children and adults up to four people. Admission also lets you play all day at the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center with over 15,000 square feet of indoor educational exhibits exploring science, careers, art, building and more, plus a 4.5 acre certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom and special space for babies and toddlers to explore.
