A free America 250 celebration at the Kansas State Capitol featuring the Kansas Poet Laureate, Capital City Chorus, and the Topeka Symphony Orchestra.
Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary in the heart of Kansas’ capital city. On Thursday, July 2, Visit Topeka, in collaboration with the Kansas 250 Commission, invites residents and visitors to gather outside the Kansas State Capitol for an evening of music, reflection, and civic pride. Set against one of the state’s most iconic backdrops, Celebrate America: A Capitol Kansas Concert brings the community together for a memorable summer evening in downtown Topeka.

Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy a patriotic summer evening outside the Kansas State Capitol. The event begins with a welcome program featuring opening remarks, a presentation from the Kansas Poet Laureate, a performance by the Capital City Chorus and an invocation. From 8 to 9 p.m., the Topeka Symphony Orchestra will take the stage for a performance celebrating American music and heritage.
Know Before You GoGuests are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. Food trucks will be available on site, along with a water station, and attendees are encouraged to bring refillable bottles. A beer garden will be located in front of Celtic Fox. Alcohol is not permitted on Capitol grounds.
Following the orchestra’s performance, the celebration will continue with a light and fountain show synchronized with music at Evergy Plaza.
