Join us on Final Friday in November for Yoga and Poetry by Candlelight
This event is *free* and open to everyone, whether you’ve been practicing yoga for years or are curiously considering a yoga practice.
Replenish your body and soul in yoga and poetry by candlelight with yoga teachers Anne Underwood, Gopi Sandal, and Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg. Caryn will also be serenading us in various asanas (poses) with poetry from her newest book, Following the Curve.
Following a restorative class, designed to help us come home to our bodies and breathe our way to greater gratitude, we’ll enjoy tea, scones, and fruit.
Books will be available for sale, as well as information about classes at the Yoga Center of Lawrence and Westside Yoga.

Anne Underwood is the owner/administrator of the Yoga Center of Lawrence. She is certified as an Iyengar instructor through the Iyengar Yoga National Association of the U.S. She began practicing yoga in 1981 and attends several senior-level Iyengar workshops each year.
Gopi Sandal is a partner-owner of Westside Yoga and teaches a holistic style of yoga, drawing on the principles of body alignment with grounding and centering techniques to bring the classic yoga poses to life. She is an experienced registered yoga instructor with the Yoga Alliance, and has over 40 years’ practice in yoga.
Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg, the 2009-2013 Kansas Poet Laureate, is the author of over two dozen books, including the award-winning Chasing Weather with weather chaser Stephen Locke. Caryn completed the Bhaktivana Yoga with Heart teaching training program with Gopi Sandal, and Anna Guest-Jelly’s certification in teaching Curvy Yoga. She regularly studies with Anne Underwood at the Yoga Center of Lawrence, and with the sky, trees, and prairies in her backyard.
