Washburn Rural High School Theatre presents the musical “Big Fish!” based on the 1998 novel “Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic  Proportions” by Daniel Wallace and the 2003 film “Big Fish” directed by Tim Burton and written by John August, who also wrote the Broadway musical.

“Big Fish” centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who has lived an adventurous life characterized by mystery, magic and romance. His adult son, about to have a child of his own, is now determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales.

What he discovers is a truth that matters, most of all: in the end, it’s all about the stories that we use to define our identities, and the people we’ve touched along the way.

A perfect Valentine’s weekend event, “Big Fish” is full of heart, humor, spectacle and powerful music. Maeghan Bishop, director, said “‘Big Fish’ is a magnificent tale that reminds us why we love going to the theatre – awe-inspiring, gleaming with magic, and overflowing with love.”
