“movie mania” is a film blog by Nick Leach to be updated each Friday with new flicks for weekend movie-goers. Trust this guy’s opinion. He sees A LOT of movies.
MacGruber
Starring Will Forte, Val Kilmer, Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig and Powers Boothe
Based on the, I guess, popular SNL character, MacGruber is the SNL version of MacGuyver, except worse. Allegedly, MacGruber was a navy seal, in special forces and was awarded bunch of medals and now just wants a life of peace because his wife died by the hands of Deiter Von Cunth (Kilmer). With the help of his old Col, James Faith (Boothe) and his old friend Vicki St Elmo (Wiig) he goes and tries to take down Cunth and his recently stolen nuclear weapon. I will say this about this movie, out of all of the SNL skits that became movies, this is one of the better ones. There were very funny moments and very blah moments. I would say they were about 40/60, funny to blah. The celery scene, classic…that is all.

Shrek 4
Starring everyone from the other 3 with the addition of Walt Dohm
The fourth and final chapter of Shrek is in 3D, if you have it available in your area. For those behind in the storyline, Shrek is married to Fiona, they have 3 kids and are happy. Their friend Donkey is married or so it appears and has some half dragon/donkey kids of his own. Their friend Puss In Boots stops by occassionaly to tell the story of how they all met and everyone lived happily ever after. Well, Shrek is tired of the same routine day after day and wants to go back to the way things use to be. He ends up making a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to go back and be a normal ogre. Well, like all contracts, Shrek didn’t read the fine print and was robbed of the very day he was born. None of his friends in the new world know who he is and he is desperately trying to escape. To not give too much away, this movie does bring in everyone from all of the Shrek movies including Fiona’s parents. If you’ve seen the other 3, you must see this one and it’s a must see for kids and the 3D was kinda amazing.
