monday market

The Topeka Public Library is a gem in our community that brings quality programs to Topekans every day.  One of our favorite events is the addition of the Monday Farmer’s Market.  A perfect alternative for people who work on Saturday, the market is smaller than the Saturday Farmer’s Market, but has the same high-quality products shoppers are looking for.

Customers can purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, buffalo meat and farm fresh eggs. This year marks the second annual Monday Farmers Market at the library.

The Market begins May 17 and local growers will be set up in the library parking lot each Monday morning from 7:30 to 11:30 am through October 4.  (No market on Memorial Day).

“We are the only library in the nation with a farmers market, as far as we know,” said Rob Banks, Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library deputy director.

New this year is that vendors will accept the Kansas Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program vouchers (KSFMNP).  The Market is part of the Capital City Wellness initiative, which promotes healthy eating and exercise, with a concentrated effort among downtown Topeka employees.
