Intoxication and immediacy: That’s what the RowHouse Poetry Revue is all about. Intoxication in the way your senses are completely enveloped in every fashion. Immediacy in the way that you can’t escape the atmosphere of creativity and, even if you could, you wouldn’t want to. This event is a non-stop consumption of art. When you aren’t talking about how great the food is you’ll be talking about how great the poetry was. This evening only comes twice a year and it is always a totally different experience to remember.
The doors of the RowHouse will open at 5 p.m. this time and the event will begin at 6. Six poets and five courses will fill the evening. Alternating from poet to portion, the momentum of the night is exhilarating. An addition to this season’s revue will give a behind-the-scenes look at some of the food featured on the menu. A selection of chefs responsible for the culinary creations will read their own poetry about the plate being served. It will give the evening an unforgettable resonance.
Seating is limited. Repeat. Seating is limited. At thirty-five dollars a plate, each diner will enjoy poems from Washburn University’s Tom Averill, Eric McHenry and Raylene Hinz- Penner along with regional poets Jason Wesco, Allison Serina Hern and Topeka’s Melissa Sewell, a five course gourmet dining experience and an exclusive chapbook which will include poetry from the readers and added insights from the chefs of the RowHouse. Each room of the RowHouse is a difference experience, so call soon and reserve your favorite spot.
