meltdown spreading the sickness

Here I am, on the road again
There I am, up on the stage
Here I go, playin’ star again
There I go, turn the page

The champions of Cover Bands Gone Wild, Meltdown, brought their Special Kind of Sickness to the Celtic Fox, Saturday, February 5th, and there is only one cure.

Patrick Lytle(vocals/guitar), Josh Freeby (bass), and Bobby Chavez (drums/vocals) are getting real well known, for inviting, perfectly good classic and modern rock songs, for a walk down a deserted back alley, beating them senseless and resurrecting them in a glorious new incarnation. You might call Meltdown the Dr. Frankenstein’s of the local cover band scene.

Although the band performs very proficient renditions by artists such as Metallica, Radiohead, Queensryche and Slipknot, etc., it’s their off beat, odd ball, rarely heard in this format, tunes that make a Meltdown show so special.

If just the thought of hearing Billy Joel’s You May Be Right, the Eagle’s Hotel California and Journey’s Faithfully, performed with a punk rawk attitude, is making you pogo in front of your computer, you need to get your butt down to a Meltdown show as soon as you can.

Throw in some David Allen Coe, Ritchie Valens, Johnny Cash, Prince, Bob Seger and the Beach Boys for an eclectic and entertaining set list that gets the crowd up on their feet and on the dance floor time after time.my guitar told me to do it

And, with upcoming gigs at Weekenders, Chubbies, and Jolettas, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to get infected with Meltdown’s special kind of sickness. And I lied, there is no cure . . . sorry.

February 26th: Weekenders, 1414 K-4 Hwy, Valley Falls

March 26th: Chubbies, 213 West 5th Street, Holton

April 11th: Jolettas, 600 NW Paramore Street, Topeka
