Kansas’ first cupcake shop, Daddy Cakes, is hosting its official new location grand opening on Wed., June 9 at 11 a.m. at 4036 SW Huntoon.
Daddy Cakes will host a celebrity Daddy Cakes eating contest in honor of the grand opening beginning at noon. Local “celebrities” will include two of our very own seveneightfive men, Matt Porubsky and Ande Davis. All sales between the hours of 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day will be donated to the charity of choice of the winner of the contest.
“Our customers have been so great about putting up with the limitations of our former store,” said Allyson Fiander, pastry chef and owner of Daddy Cakes. “We are really excited about our new space, a bigger selection of cupcakes and plenty of seating.”
Daddy cakes moved to its new location last month and has recently extended its hours to 7 am to 7 pm to incorporate serving gourmet pastries and PT’s coffee drinks in addition to serving its world renowned cupcakes.
Daddy Cakes will also be featured on Food Network’s new show “Cupcake Wars,” slated to air on June 15. The watch party is planned to take place at Skinny’s Sports Bar and Grill a few doors down from the new Daddy Cakes location.
“Our mission at Daddy Cakes is simple. To go where no cake has gone before,” said Fiander.
