Kansas City singer/songwriter Patrick Lentz will show off his pop-soul and R&B chops this Saturday at Sharkey’s. KC folk saw Lentz last month when he opened for Everclear at the Midland. You may have heard Lentz in Topeka when he opened for Pomeroy and Lost Wax – two seveneightfive favorites, which, coincidentally, he also plays in.
“He has always had a headliner sound,” explained Sharkey’s owner Ernie Jolly. “We’re excited to have him at Sharkey’s and hope that he gets a local following like the other bands have.” It’s a good show.
Lentz’s musical influences include Stevie Wonder, Citizen Cope and Maroon 5. You can definitely hear his influences in his music and Timothy Finn, The Kansas City Star blogger said “He and his band sounded like a meatier version of Maroon 5.”
Fans clamber about Lentz’s rendition of Hall and Oates’ “Rich Girl” and his original and title track on his current CD, “Tell Me What You Want.”
“My show is high energy, up-tempo and up-beat,” said Lentz. “Everyone can enjoy it and it’s a positive vibe.”
Get in-tune with the Lentz vibe and hightail it to Sharkey’s on Saturday. Start time is around 9 p.m.
